Three Things He Could Never Tell Erandur and Serana
1. "They don't deserve your loyalty. Or your grief."
Stubborn he may be, but even he knows a lost cause when he sees one. For Serana, it was her father and his followers; for Erandur it was the cult of Vaermina. In both cases, that was the only family they'd ever known, and neither could help still missing them despite everything. And Vanyel can't honestly blame them for that.
2. "You're not the only ones who've run afoul of a Daedric Prince, you know."
This one's just a matter of not rubbing salt in the wound; he wasn't knowingly acting on Hermaeus Mora's behalf so much as playing right into his tentacles, and he deeply regretted it afterward... but at the end of the day, he knows he got off lightly compared to what they've been put through by Vaermina and Molag Bal.
3. "I think I'm in love with you both."
And this he'll take to his grave if he has to. Better that than risk hurting either of them by telling them so, or losing their friendship, or causing the tentative relationship they've built to fall apart. He isn't so selfish as to consider those acceptable risks.
